How Does PRP Therapy Work?
Once you are seated comfortably in one of our secluded minor procedure rooms, a small amount of blood will be drawn from one of your arms and put into a centrifuge machine. Most of the time, we remove around one vial of blood. After approximately 15 minutes on the centrifuge machine, the components of the blood separate and are then ready to be injected. We will load the condensed plasma into a sterile syringe and inject it into the designated areas of the face. This process typically only takes around five minutes but can vary from patient to patient.
What Are the Benefits of PRP Therapy?
PRP therapy is a revolutionary cosmetic enhancement. Recognized for its ability to stimulate the body's natural healing processes, this innovative treatment can improve skin health and appearance. Benefits include:
- Activating collagen and elastin generation in the skin
- Stimulating the body's natural cell turnover mechanism
- Procedure is personalized to your needs and aims
- Increasing fullness in the complexion
- Softer, smoother, and younger-looking skin

PRP FAQ
How much does PRP therapy cost?
Your cost for PRP therapy will depend on the size of the area being treated and whether you are having it done with another cosmetic procedure. During your initial consultation at Refine Plastic Surgery, your technician will provide an estimated cost and discuss all your payment options.
How long do results from PRP therapy last?
Visible results from PRP therapy may last for as long as two months. The results will vary with each patient and depend on the area being treated. Some benefits of this treatment are that it does not require surgery or lengthy downtime and is less expensive.
What are the risks and complications of PRP therapy?
Possible risks from PRP on its own are mild and include only temporary swelling and bruising. When microneedling is performed with PRP therapy, potential risks include mild scarring, pigment changes, and delayed healing. This is why it's important to have microneedling performed by an experienced technician.
Will PRP help replenish volume?
PRP therapy does not increase volume in areas like your lips and cheeks. Although PRP injections offer great results because they rejuvenate the appearance of the complexion and boost the production of elastin and collagen, they are not meant to increase volume. If you wish to contour areas on your face that have lost volume, you may be a better candidate for dermal fillers.
Is PRP therapy painful?
Injections of PRP serum feel like a wrinkle filler or relaxer injection with the extra step of extracting the plasma. Generally, patients will feel a mild pinch or pressure at the time of injection. If you are concerned about feeling pain, ask if you can receive numbing cream before the injection is performed.
